Education and background

Elizabeth is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC), licensed in Michigan, Texas and Nationally (as an ACS, Approved Clinical Supervisor). She graduated from Argosy University, in Dallas, TX, in 2012 with a master’s degree in Community Counseling and has spent the entirety of her career being a part of the innovations in integrated mental health care in pediatrics. She gained experience in the counseling field interning for the Youth and Family Centers of the Dallas Independent School District. After completion of her practicum/internship with DISD, she completed the hours required for full licensure working for Diagnostic Assessment Services supporting children and young adults in both the school and clinic settings. Elizabeth moved back to her hometown of Detroit, Michigan in 2014 and began to broaden her counseling experience working for several Community Mental Health Services Programs in Wayne and Oakland Counties. Currently she works as an external consultant for pediatric mental health initiatives for the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

Elizabeth is trained in and has utilized CBT, DBT (full comprehensive model) and Solution Focused theories to work with clients on achieving their definition of personal success.

Approach to clinical supervision

As an Approved Clinical Supervisor, Elizabeth adheres to the ACS Code of Ethics. ACS Credential holders are committed to maintaining high standards of integrity and conduct, prioritizing the welfare and interests of both supervisees and the clients they serve. They facilitate skill acquisition, promote ethical decision-making, and model quality service provision.

In her approach to clinical supervision, Elizabeth focuses on three primary goals: developing the clinical skills of supervisees, fostering self-awareness and personal understanding, and protecting the welfare of clients. These goals are intertwined throughout the supervision process, ensuring a holistic approach to professional development.

Drawing heavily on principles from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Elizabeth emphasizes mindfulness in clinical supervision. She guides supervisees to cultivate awareness of themselves and their clients, encouraging them to observe and describe observable behaviors effectively. Elizabeth aims to strike a balance between active participation in the therapeutic process and empowering clients to engage fully in their own growth and healing.

Through her commitment to ethical practice and mindful supervision, Elizabeth provides a supportive and enriching environment for supervisees to enhance their clinical skills and deepen their understanding of themselves and their clients. Her approach reflects a dedication to excellence in supervision and a commitment to promoting the well-being of both supervisees and clients.
