Virtual Mental Health Counseling

We now accept Blue Cross Blue Shield and Blue Care Network Plans!

Searching for a therapist can be an incredibly overwhelming task, especially when you're just wanting to feel better. This is true, even for THERAPISTS looking for a therapist. Our therapists work with individuals experiencing stress, anxiety, depression and difficulty managing tasks in their everyday life.

Often it is helpful to have someone to talk to that is not family/friends (while they do have our best interests at heart, sometimes their support isn't all we need). Our therapists are here to help and support you move more toward the life you want to be living.

FAQ ABOUT Therapy Sessions for New Clients In Michigan

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING Therapy Sessions

FAQs

What techniques do your therapists specialize in?

Our therapists specialize in evidence-based treatments tailored to your specific needs. We frequently utilize techniques rooted in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) principles, including mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness skills. Our approach is person-centered, allowing you to choose the focus of your therapy while receiving full support from your therapist.

How much will Counseling cost?

We accept some insurances. An individual counseling session is priced between $120 - $165 for a one-hour session.

How often will I have to schedule?

The frequency and duration of your counseling sessions are determined collaboratively between you and your therapist. While your therapist may provide recommendations, the ultimate decision lies with you. However, we typically encourage weekly sessions to ensure consistent progress and commitment to the therapeutic process.

Do you take Insurance?

Yes, we accept BlueCross PPO and traditional plans, along with Blue Care Network. Please ensure with your insurance provider that Mindfulness Consulting Services (NPI #1154008571) is an in-network provider. Additionally, contact your insurance provider to clarify your co-pay for Behavioral Health Services and if you have a deductible.

What will the first session look like?

The initial session is scheduled for one hour and is primarily led by your therapist. They will gather essential background information, understand your reasons for seeking counseling, and establish your therapy goals. You'll have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

Your therapist may address common FAQs typical of clients starting therapy and provide insights and recommendations for treatment. You'll be encouraged to consider these recommendations, ask further questions, and determine if our services align with your needs.

Once this groundwork is laid, your therapist will empower you to take charge of your therapeutic journey and decide where to begin.

Privacy Concerns in Counseling

Concerned about privacy? Rest assured, confidentiality is paramount in counseling. As professional counselors, our primary focus is on ensuring your safety and well-being. However, there are certain exceptions where confidentiality may need to be breached if there are concerns about your safety or well-being. Your therapist will always discuss these options with you beforehand.

You also have the option to grant permission for your therapist to speak with others, such as your doctor, if desired.

Virtual sessions can pose privacy challenges. We recommend ensuring you have a private space where others cannot overhear your conversation and using earbuds or headphones. Your therapist will do the same to maintain privacy.

How Counseling Can Help When You're Unsure

Not sure what you need? Counseling can provide support when you're feeling out of sorts, unhappy, stressed, or simply not yourself. Whether prompted by a specific event or a general feeling of unease, counseling offers a safe space to talk, share thoughts, and explore feelings. Don't let uncertainty hold you back—having someone to listen, question, and provide support can be invaluable.
